Zions Bancorporation is seeking an experienced and highly motivated leader to manage a variety of banking systems on variety of platforms in the Branch Technology group.  The Applications Development Manager will lead a team of business systems analysts, developers, and testers that provide support of production, compliance, risk, and project initiatives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Guide, manage and direct the activities of Business Systems Analysts (BSA) in owning various banking/business systems, developing subject-matter expertise of systems, and maintaining the overall functionality, uptime, safety, and soundness of the systems.
  • Guide, manage, and direct the activities of Software Application Developers in delivering software applications and/or integrations to meet business deliverables.
  • Guide, manage, and direct the activities of Quality Assurance Testers to plan, design, develop and execute test cases that ensure sound system implementations.
  • Provide oversight over the development, testing, and delivery of application and technology to business units and projects.
  • Provide oversight of queue prioritization and allocation of financial and human-capital resources.
  • Guide, manage, and direct activities to modernize application technology, including cloud, virtualization, containerization, etc.
  • Be responsible for vendor management, including service level agreements, contracts, and invoices.
  • Work with audit, compliance, banking regulators, risk management, and other internal business partners
  • Manage the development and tracking of the cost allocations, recoveries, and system budgets.
  • Be responsible for overseeing the improvement of systems.
  • Keep abreast of development and QA best practices and techniques.
  • Analyze and organize department operations and procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee productivity and performance, providing frequent feedback and coaching.
  • Be responsible for hiring, training, and supervising staff members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Technical background in systems knowledge with respect to deposits and payments, business processes and its customer impact.
  • Requires a Bachelor's in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems or related degree and 6+ years’ experience with business system and/or software development processes, project management and/or agile methodologies and tools, resource and change management practices and techniques or other directly related experience.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices
  • Knowledge of distributed and mainframe technical design and software architecture.
  • Knowledge of information systems and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of QA best practices.
  • Strategic planning, risk management and change management skills.
  • Strong ability to meet deadlines, schedules, and budgeted costs.
  • Strong negotiation and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of department specific processes and procedures. 
  • Requires solid analytical, organizational, trouble shooting and problem solution skills.
  • Leadership and management experience, with ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Must have strong leadership, management, coaching, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to translate between technical and non-technical.

 

A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.

 

Ideally, this position is located in Salt Lake City, Utah with a 3 day in office / 2 day remote work plan or may be remote within the continental United States. 

Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000

Bonus: This role may maybe eligible for a discretionary bonus.
